Room reflections

The first step to treating your room is understanding your reflections points. In most cases, the listener has their sound source set up in a triangle formation, with the listener as the point of the triangle. Any hard surface such as walls will cause mid to high frequency sound-waves to bounce. By addressing these first reflection points by absorbing the problematic frequencies you can significantly improve the sound and image of the room.

"What's the difference between Built Audio Panels and foam?" is a questions we get almost every day from our clients. While foam remains a popular, cost effective choice for many - our panels are far superior in effectiveness. 

While the price of foam packs may be tempting, you will need a tremendous amount to make a real difference in your room (which can turn very expensive, very fast). Our panels do not use foam as the core material as some manufacturers do. We use the most effective absorption core material on the market - treated Rigid Fiberglass Insulation. This core material, in concert with wood frames crafted from high-quality Douglas Fir and eco friendly polyester fabric made for acoustic absorption insures a quality solution that will serve our clients for many years to come.

Noise reduction coefficient

A Noise Reduction Coefficient is a numbered rating system that reflects the effectiveness of sound absorption is a material. NRC ranges from 0, which is no sound absorption, to 1, which represents total absorption. Rating at or around 1 reflects an effective material. For instance, if the NRC of a panel 90 that means 90% of the sound waves are absorbed while 10% is reflected.
